   Our hands are one of the things that people notice the first about us but are often amongst the most neglected parts of our body. Grooming our hands is important as it reflects to others the attention we pay to detail. To do the same, I usually keep my finger nails well in shape and painted with a subtle colored nail enamel. I have been favoring the Oriflame The One Long Wear Nail Polish in Cappuccino - 30534 since the last few weeks, a shade perfect for work as well as parties alike! Below is a detailed review with swatches of the same.

   The Oriflame The One Long Wear Nail Polish comes packaged as a see through, transparent cylindrical glass bottle with a grey colored plastic screw cap. The packaging is simple, sturdy and travel friendly. It is provided with a soft, pliable applicator brush which is flat from side to side and is rounded at its end, which makes application of the enamel more controlled, easy and mistake free. The container bottle is stuck with a transparent sticker printed with the name of the product on its front side, while a grey sticker on its back side is printed with the brand name, the specific color code and name, net volume provided, month of manufacturing and expiry, some caution signs and manufacturing details.
   The shade Cappuccino 30534 is a nude, light brownish pink shade with grey undertones in it.
   The nail enamel formula has the perfect fluid consistency, ans isn't clumpy nor too runny. It dries quickly on application, and gives colored opaque nails with two coats of the nail enamel. It does not settle into streaks or lines and gives a smooth and shiny finish to the nails. A double coat of the enamel, without a top coat stays on my nails easily for 3 - 4 days after which it starts showing signs of tip wear. The formula is easy to get rid of with use of nail enamel removers and does not leave behind any residual stain on the nails after doing so. Also, these enamels are available in a variety of shades, each more beautiful than the other!
   These Oriflame The One Long Wear Nail Polishes are easily available across the country, through Oriflame consultants as well as online shopping sites, their only pitfall being their high price.

Product Review - Live Your Now ( LYN ) Nail Enamel - Didya Vinka At Me #465

 

 
   A famous quote says 'Life is too short for boring nails' and why wouldn't it be, especially when a simple nail enamel can add a vibrant color to our everyday wardrobe, taking up the style quotient of our finished look by a few notches to say the least. To accomplish the same, I recently tried the LYN (Live Your Now) Nail Enamels in a couple of shades, and am sharing a detailed review of one of my favorite shades, 'Didya Vinka At Me #465' below.

   Product Claims: The Live Your Now team has worked closely with an expert formulator based in France to create a revolutionary HIGH DEFINITION nail lacquer that promises to give you nothing less than pure color perfection. These lacquers have been formulated with pigments that reveal their true brightness and vividness for ultimate wear. LYN salon quality nail lacquers glide on like satin, dry fast and are available in 100 gorgeous shades!

   Price: Rs. 350/-
   Volume: 12 ml.
   Shelf Life: 36 months.
   Directions: Shake well before use. Apply 2 coats.
  

   The LYN Nail Enamels come packaged as cubical see through glass bottles having a black colored screw cap with the brand name embossed on top of it. The enamel bottle is super elegant and luxurious to look at. It is printed with the brand name on its front side; whereas its manufacturing details including shelf life, customer care details, cost, directions for use and net volume are printed on the back side. The shade name and number can be found on stickers stuck on side of the screw cap (along with the batch no.) and at the bottom of the container bottle (along with the manufacturing date). This sturdy bottle is provided with a thin, soft and pliable brush for easy application.

   The LYN variant Didya Vinka At Me #465 is an in your face, hot pink shade.

   The formula of the LYN nail enamel is just perfect, neither runny on the nails nor clumpy. The enamel dries quickly when applied and does not lead to streaking. Even a single coat gives near opaque color but two coats are necessary for complete opacity. The enamel gives a glossy, smooth and shiny finish to the nails. Removing the LYN enamels too, is an easy task - They come off easily with use of enamel remover and do not cause staining of the nail with residual color. The best thing about these enamels is the diversity of shades and effects they come in, i.e over 100 different variants, making sure that they have something to offer to women of differing tastes and styles.

   The LYN nail enamels are available widely through online shopping sites and at Juice salons across the country, their only negative being, at Rs. 350/- a bottle, their high cost.

- Easily available on online retail sites and Juice salons across the nation.

   Cons:

- Price is expensive when compared to other enamels available in the market. 

   Verdict: 4.5/5. A product which ticks so many points on the pros section, has definitely got to be a keeper which these enamels undoubtedly are, their only negative being their high price.
 

     

Product Review - Miss Nails Nail Enamels - Iron Women MN 33 & Dusky Brown MN 13

 

   Ever since I was a little girl, I was fascinated with getting dressed up, wearing mom's jewellery and using cosmetic products on myself. As I grew, with increasing age, this interest started dwindling until fairly recently when I fell head over heels in love with cosmetics. But, through the years, my love for jazzing up my nails with nail enamels always stayed the same. No shopping trip would end without me buying myself at least a bottle of the same. So keeping up with this love for nail enamels, today I am reviewing products from a fairly new Indian brand, the Miss Nails Nail Enamels in shades Iron Women MN 33 and Dusky Brown MN 13.

   Product Claims: Good nail polish is the simplest of ways for the women to make a style statement! We understand this, and hence we are a rapidly emerging manufacturer, exporter, and supplier of nail polish. The nail polish dries off quickly and provides a shiny texture to the nails. Known for its fine finish, the nail polish comes in various shades and it is easily removable.
 

   Price: Rs. 129/-
   Volume: 16 ml.
   Shelf Life: Not mentioned.

   Miss Nails nail enamels come packed in sturdy and attractive transparent cubical glass containers with long stemmed metallic copper colored screw caps which are attached on its inside to applicator brushes much like other nail enamels. These bottles are printed with the brand and shade name, manufacturing details, price and the volume provided. The caps are detailed to give the appearance of crystals stuck to it to spell the brand name "Miss Nails". The applicator brushes have pliable and soft 1.5 cm bristles that help in easy application of the nail enamel. 
   The shade Iron Women MN 33 is metallic, light gold in color while Dusky Brown MN 13 is dark chocolaty brown with tiny silvery-purple glitter particles interspersed in it which give a slight sparkle to the enamel when exposed to light.
   These enamels have a perfect liquid consistency which gives a decent amount of color even with a single swipe, but I'd recommend two coats of the same for completely opaque nails. Drying of the enamel takes time, giving a perfectly smooth texture with a shiny finish without streaking of the colors. The enamel stayed on my nails for roughly 3 - 4 days before showing signs of tip wear and chipping, which is quite commendable. These enamels are quite easy to remove with the help of nail enamel removers and do not leave any residual stain on the nails after doing so. Also, the availability of Miss Nails nail enamels in a wide range of shades make them perfect to dress up the nails for every occasion!
   Priced at rates friendly for the consumer's pockets and wide availability across online retail sites and offline stores make Miss Nails nail enamels a good budget buy!

   Verdict: 4.75/5. Absolutely in love with the two shades of Miss Nails nail enamels that I tried. Good staying power, wide range of colors, budget friendly prices and a smooth and shiny finish make these enamels a must buy!

   The Maybelline Color Show Nail Enamels need no introduction. Since the time they were first launched till now, when many more enamels have been released under the 'Color Show' label, they have gained a major fan following, so much so there might not be many fashion conscious girls who wouldn't have heard/used one of these nail enamels. Reviewing the shade - Buried Treasure #221 today, one of the many ravishing shades amongst the initial releases.

   Directions: With one sweep, paint the first line of nail polish up the centre of your nail starting from the base to the tip. For the cleanest look, be sure to leave a small space at the base of the nail. Then apply color to the rest of the nail.
 

   The Maybelline Color Show Nail Enamels come as cylindrical, transparent glass bottles with a black colored screw cap which is engraved with the shade name and number. These bottles are attractive, compact, sturdy, travel friendly and have become the signature for all the enamels which have been released under the 'Color Show' label. The screw caps are provided with a brush attached on its underside. These brushes are soft and pliable, and help in easy application of the enamel.
   The shade Buried Treasure consists of a taupe base with the minutest hint of lavender undertones with gold particulates interspersed in it.
   The enamel formula has a perfect liquid consistency, neither too runny nor clumpy. Though a single coat gives a good amount of color, two coats are necessary to make the nails appear opaque. The enamel dries quickly after application to give a smooth, shiny finish without streaking of the color. While their availability in a wide range of shades makes them perfect to mix and match with the rest of your ensemble, their poor staying power lets them down. The enamel stays only for a day or two on my nails when applied singly without the use of a base or a top coat before it starts chipping. On the plus side, the formula is easy to remove and does not stain the nails while doing so.
   Ease of availability across the nation and a consumer friendly buying price makes them a hit amongst the users!

These nail enamels are available in total of 9 variants out of which 6 are top coats and the rest 3 have a colored base.

   The Maybelline Color Show Go Graffiti Nail Enamels come in cylindrical glass bottle containers similar to other Color Show variants and are provided with a black colored screw caps engraved with the shade name and code number and attached with pliable applicator brushes. These bottles are attractive to look at, compact, sturdy and very travel friendly.
   The shade "Star Struck" consists of a base of clear polish which is interspersed with graffiti particles of varying shapes, colors and sizes - Large white colored stars, medium sized hexagonal light and dark blue and small and minute hexagonal white decals.
   The graffiti particles are well dispersed in the enamel solution and are easy to apply with the brush provided. The enamel has a quick dry formula and can be applied singly as an enamel or a top coat over a colored enamel. It has a good thin consistency to start with, but with time becomes thick and clumpy earlier compared to other enamels due to the presence of the graffiti particles. It has a staying power of 2 - 3 days by itself after which it starts to show tip wear, while it's durability is influenced by the base enamel when used in conjunction with one. The graffiti particles remain well stuck to the nails even after days of application but the larger white star shaped ones make for a difficult application due to its non flexible, sharp ends especially for those with tiny nails like mine. It can be tackled with a coat or two of clear polish or by carefully cutting off the pointy sharp ends with the help of a blade. Few of the blue colored particles loose color to appear white after a few days and also, it takes quite some time to get rid of the enamel with a remover. But nonetheless, the enamel gives a well manicured, zesty nail art look and instantly jazzes up the nails.
   Easily available across the nation and is pretty affordable!  

   Pros:

   Cons:
- Sharp ends of the white star shaped graffiti particles jut out.
- Enamel solution thickens in consistency earlier than other enamels.
- Difficulty in removing the enamel.

   Verdict: 4.25/5. The ravishing variants are sure to jazz up your fingertips by adding a splash of quirk and color with a single coat of the enamel. Simply put, it's nail art in a bottle!!

Product Review - Maybelline Color Show Bright Sparks Nail Enamel - Glowing Wine #704

 

 
   Maybelline launched 8 amazing shades of nail enamels under the name Color Show Bright Sparks late last year following the release of 8 glamorous and sparkling shades of Color Show Glitter Mania in addition to the original 40 shades of Color Show nail enamels taking the total number of shades under the brand name Color Show to a whopping 56. Of the 8 bright and colorful shades released, I am reviewing the shade Glowing Wine here.

   Product Claims: The Maybelline New York Color Show Bright Sparks Collection presents eye-catching nail shades inspired by colors trending at the New York Fashion Week. This collection offers 8 glitzy nail polish shades, with each shade being hand-picked by India's top beauty bloggers. The range includes glamorous shades like Glowing Wine, Power of Red, Firewood Brown, Blazing Blue, Spark of Steel, Burnished Gold and Molten Maroon.    Maybelline New York Color Show Bright Sparks nail enamels come as cylindrical see through glass bottles with a black colored cap with the shade name and code engraved on top. These signature Color Show bottles are attractive, sturdy, compact and easy to carry.
   Glowing Wine is a rich and dark burgundy-wine colored enamel with loads of glitter particles in it though it appears more of a magenta shade in add prints. It has the right consistency for smooth, flawless application. Though the color is dark enough to give opaque nails in a single coat, double coat of the enamel is recommended for perfect finish. The enamel dries up pretty quickly to give a smooth glossy finish without streaking. The biggest downside of this range is the fact that the enamel starts to chip and show evidence of tip wear within a day or two and doesn't survive a head-bath for me. The enamel comes off easily with use of a nail polish remover without leaving any residual stain behind despite the rich color. Another negative is that the formula thickens in consistency and dries up on storage earlier than many other enamels. At Rs. 85/- a piece, it is very reasonably priced.
   Great variety of shades and easy availability across the nation makes it a good buy.

- The shade 'Glowing Wine' looks very different in person when compared to print pictures.
- Chips and shows tip wear in a day or two.
- On storage, the enamel thickens faster than many other nail enamels.

   Verdict: 3.5/5. Despite the low staying power, Glowing Wine is an enticing shade perfect for Indian skin tones. Apply it to compliment traditional Indian wear to jazz up your nails!
